It became clear by the age of two that music was in David's heart and soul. He danced to his parents' favorite songs and wanted music to be on at all times. By age five, David was playing and taking lessons on the piano. Always preferring to play "by ear", eventually this led to an end of lessons for piano. He was chosen for solo singing parts in several elementary school plays. By the sixth grade, he had developed an interest in the woodwind family and took up the clarinet in seventh grade. The next year is when the real magic happened. His teacher and first mentor, Dr. William Holman, allowed him to switch to saxophone. Loving to practice the sax, David's skill level progressed rapidly.

By ninth grade, a youngster, he was accepted to Douglas Anderson School of the Arts; an all arts high school in Jacksonville, Florida, where he played for one year in the music department. He then moved to California for his sophomore year of high school. He joined the band at the arts magnet Lincoln high school in San Jose, California. He continued with a considerable amount of practice on many woodwind instruments. By his senior year of high school, he was gigging outside of the school and also played with the local San Jose Children's Musical Theater as the principal reed player. This was David's first professional experience doubling on woodwinds. In his senior year, he received the Louis Armstrong jazz award for excellence in jazz knowledge.

After graduation from high school, he spent some time at San Jose State University in the music department. David was accepted to join the prestigious SJSU Choraliers chamber choir under the direction of Dr. Charlene Archibeque.

After gigging and practicing for a few years, it was time for him to make a change. He decided to move to Southern California to pursue possible opportunities. After moving, he auditioned for Citrus College in Glendora, California. He was immediately accepted on saxophone in the Citrus College jazz ensemble. David studied at Citrus College for about two years. The jazz ensemble traveled to Japan to play concerts and clinics. He honed in on his sight-reading and jazz chops.

His path changed suddenly one day. Joining The Fenians in April of 2002, David played Irish Folk/Rock with the band for 5 years. He now freelances and plays locally in Southern California.
